Mumbai: Amazon Thursday announced the launch of Saregama India Ltd., India’s leading music entertainment company, in the US through Amazon’s global selling platform. Through this association, Saregama will be able to sell its unique selection of music cards with songs from over 50 artists in 7 languages to millions of Amazon customers across the US.

Music card is an ultra-portable USB flash drive, similar to that of a credit card, which can be easily connected to devices such as laptops, audio players and car music players.

Saregama India Ltd. is the custodian of over half of all the music ever recorded in India. With the largest music archive and catalogue in India, and a huge audience across age group in the US who love Indian music, these music cards can work very well for customers due to the sheer convenience that it offers. With an audience who still prefers a physical plug and play product over apps or other online mediums for listening to their favorite music, the product aims to be a huge hit among customers, especially car owners as it allows them to play their own music while driving without any interruption.

The company is also looking to target customers who are looking at gifting something unique to their Indian music loving family members and friends via Amazon.

Talking about the launch, Kumar Ajit, Vice President- Sales and Marketing, Saregama India Ltd. said, “Through this association, we aim to take Indian music to music aficionados around the world. Our catalogue currently ranges from Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, Punjabi, Classical and Devotional and we are planning to add more music cards every month.”

Since its inception in May 2015, Amazon’s Global Selling Program has grown exponentially in India with over 20000 merchants selling over 45 million ‘Made in India’ products across 10 international markets to millions of active worldwide customers.
